custom motorcycle saddlebags How much is my motorcycle worth?
I have a 1996 Honda Shadow 1100cc C with 26k miles, custom seat, custom handlebars, chrome package, saddlebags, windshield, mint condition, well maintained, always garaged motorcycle. I checked the KBB and for the year and model it says $2300. But with all the customs, low mileage and condition, what would you expect to pay for this bike? Thanks for all of your help guys!
That's actually pretty high mileage in most people's eyes when it comes to motorcycles. The custom stuff doesn't add anything to the value, but that fact that it's well maintained and in great condition will go a long way. I see them selling on ebay for between $2,000 and $3,000. In this rare case, I think KBB is probably pretty close on this one. I would ask $3,000 and if you don't get any calls drop it in $250 increments until it starts to get noticed. That's a nice bike. My friend has had one since it was new and it has been totally reliable. I have ridden it many times. Good luck with your sale.

An '03 is the last of the rigid mount Sportsters. They are not nearly as nice as the '04 and later. All you have to do is look on completed auctions on ebay to know that $6,500 is just about $2,000 more than that bike is worth. You can do even better than that if you keep your eyes open. My '05 Roadster sat unsold most of the summer of '07 at $7,000. It sat for another month at $6500. I finally sold it for $5,500 and even then, nobody was beating down my door to get it.
I should have never sold that bike. It was one of the nicest machines I have ever owned, and I took a beating on it financially.
I will tell you this: I think the 1200 Sportster is a great machine. I think the Roadster is better than the Custom, but that is just a preference. There is nothing wrong with a Custom.
I just think you are paying A LOT more than that bike is worth.
I wouldn't pay a dime over $5,000 for it, and I would feel way better at $4,500.
