saddlebags for motorcycles Can I carry a billy club on a cross-country trip?
I will be traveling alone on a 5,000 mile motorcycle trip this Summer. I am 20, so cannot carry a concealed handgun. I could carry a handgun in my saddlebag, but would have to leave the ammo for it in the other saddlebag. (Which would be very useless.) I will be camping in remote areas the entire trip, so any weapon is more for defense against four-legged animals than anything.
I am considering carrying a swanky billy club which I made. Since I obviously do not have the Right to keep and bear firearms,(!) I'm curious as to how the law effects me carrying a large stick with me on my travels.
What laws might effect my carrying of a club? Do you have any other suggestions?
It would be best to ask a lawyer in your area.
But I am almost positive it doesn't matter. It's a stick. As long as you don't threaten anyone with it or damage property you should be fine.

Almost every state will allow you to transport a firearm if it is in a separate compartment from the driver, cased, unloaded, and separate from ammunition. Transporting it in a gun rug, in a saddlebag, with a couple of speed loaders in your pocket, will probably comply with the laws of any state. You'd better check, though.

The likelihood that you will need a handgun on your trip is extremely slim. I have been riding cross-country for over 40 years, often solo. I have never encountered a situation where I needed a handgun. However, the problem is that if you need a gun, you probably need it in a hurry. An unloaded weapon does you no good at all.

Ankle Sprain? swollen still?
So i sprained my ankle playing basketball exactly 2 weeks ago. i jumped up for the ball and landed right on the side of my foot where that little ball is, bottom of my foot was facing inward. i put ice on it right away and the next day swelling went do a lot. i also couldn't walk very well so i didn't go to school. After about a week my limp was gone and i was doing better i can't really get my foot in a shoe so i wear saddles. Also i can't wear and ace bandage because it hurts to walk when it wrapped. just yesterday i went t to gymnastics and had a gymnastics bad around it, gave me a lot of support and i was ok. The concern i have is that it is still swollen on the side where the ball is and right around the ankle not as bad as the first day but still pretty bad. What should i do. I know the rice method. but stopped doing it 3 days ago. also please don't tell me to go to ER.

I would recommend seeing a foot doctor, who can check your foot to see if you have a torn ligament/muscle or a broken bone.
However, it sounds like you just have tendonitis (stress-induced inflammation [swelling] of the achilles tendon), which is curable and not serious at all. If that's all it is, your doctor will give you this special shoe to wear for about two weeks that compresses your foot. You'll have to keep it elevated and iced, but the shoe will take care of the compression as you go about your daily life.

They will have to small or it won't look right. The slanted styles will clear the shocks a lot better. Any of the small throwover bags for cruisers would be ok, but get saddlebag supports to keep the bags from rubbing against the paint. I used Willie and Max bags on an old Vulcan I used to have. They are durable and good looking, but if it rains your stuff will likely get wet. Hard bags are better, but difficult to fit on such a small bike.
