Leather saddle Leather care question for western saddle?
Hi i live in india.. and the climate is extremly humid and hot. Any leather thing i previously owned, would mould within a week.. now i inherited a beatiful western saddle. and there i way i am not going to ride in it..!! but as i live in india. i am looking for a way to preserve my saddle in the best form.. (edible oils won't work, since it attracts ants) any tips guides will be really really welcome!!! thanks!
I live in Texas which also has a hot and humid climate. Frequent cleaning is the best way to keep leather preserved and to prevent mold. Ideally you want to clean it after every ride, but if that's not possible at least once a week. You also want to condition the leather about every two weeks. My favorite products are the Lexol pH saddle soap and Lexol conditioner. I don't know if you can get those in India, though. Any saddle soap with glycerin will do the job. There are probably several other leather conditioners that would work well. I would avoid neetsfoot oil though, as it darkens leather and stains clothes.

I thought since riders use leather saddles, they might be able to help me out. I have a very old leather bicycle saddle that is starting to chafe around the rear of the saddle and is staining my pants in the process. What do you guys use on your leather saddle to stop chafing from occurring that I can use on my bicycle saddle? Thanks
Once leather starts to chaff there isn't much you can do to fix it but if you oil it, it will slow down the process. Just clean it with some saddle soap or any kind of leather cleaner and then oil it with good old neatsfoot oil.

I've started to do some trail riding, I've gotten tired of the show ring, and was wondering what are the good points and bad points of saddle bags, horn bags or a cantle bags. Which do you prefer and why? I know my 5yr old TWH mare doesn't care what's on her. I use a western or endurance style saddles and normally ride anywhere from 3-8 hrs.
I like the horn bags because they are small and I can keep things up close to me like my cell phone or my 32 depending on where I am riding. For a cantel bag I use one of the small soft side coolers that will fit about a 6 pack of soda. It hold food and drinks and it's compact.

how do i fix a broken strap on a christian dior saddle bag?
i'm looking for a creative way to fix my bag, if you are fimiliar with the saddle bag strap it is connected to the bad by a C and D, the metal has broken leaving C detached from the D. I've tried wireing it together, but it falls apart, same with fishing wire. I've tried very heavy apoxy, and that didnt work either, i dont think welding will either. it's a knock off so taking it in to a store isnt an option either. if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. I love this bag and am determined to fix it.
Find a place that repairs shoes and they may be able to help, also the cleaners, better yet, try one of the rings you use on your keys, they come in different sizes and are very strong. I would love to know if it works.

One top of regular things, I put- pliers hoof pick wire cutters chapstick a little sun block I have one of those hay strings neatly tied- they are great for just in case! TP!!!! LOL

it should utilize the 2 bolts holding your fender strut on. may have to undo the rear signal lights, but no wiring will be removed, just set off to the side and put them back in place when reassembling. usually, you'll need a shorter upper shock bolt as well when you take the support brackets off, you can't keep the existing longer ones or you'll tighten them into your rear tire and wreck it

Well, since it's from his 2003 collection (or is it 2002?) it is definitly not going to be in any major store that I know of. You could try consigment and charity shops, or look around on Amazon and Ebay. If my information about the collection's year, please say so, because I very well may be wrong! However, I would still try a major cities shops or contact the Dior brand itself and ask if they know of any places that sell outdated/old collections. The very worst somebody can say is no.
