Motorcycle luggage any locksmiths out there (motorcycle related)?
So, i came upon this little scooter, it's kinda like a vespa, but, some chinese knock off brand.
well, it doesn't have a key, and the steering lock is in place. you can't get into the luggage compartment or gas tank without a key either.
from the manufacturer, apparently i can get a key for $40 plus shipping and handling from china - hoping - it actually works.
so i guess something like 50 bucks? i dont know.
my question though is, how much does it typically cost to get a lock smith to make a key from scratch? considering i don't have a broken key to go by or anything....
It varies from place to place. If you take it in to a locksmith, expect 1/2 to 3/4 hr labor plus keyblanks. So, if shop labor is $60 per, it would be $30-$45 labor plus about $10 in materials.
