Paris Transportation Help? Going from the Arc de Triumph to Le Blanc Mesnil?
Hi there. I am going to meet up with a tour at a hotel in Le Blanc Mesnil. I will be staying first at at the Renaissance Arc de Triumph. Does anyone know how much a taxi fare would be for this? I found two public transit routes but I am not sure if they will be convienant.
One involves two stops with the RER A & B with bus 148 and the other is just with the buses 43 & 350.
What would be the best option for 2 people with luggage? Is it hard to travel with luggage on a bus? Thanks!!
I wouldn't take the RER because you'd have to walk a lot with your luggage, up and down the stairs and inside the stations.
I would take a cab, the ride should cost about 40 euros. The taxi driver will charge you an extra euro for each luggage starting by the second one (first luggage is free). Le Blanc Mesnil is 19 km from the Arc of Triumph.
To go to the outskirts of Paris, you can't simply take a cab on the street, they will refuse to drive you because they're not supposed to go outside Paris. If you speak French, call "taxis G7", they're much serious than "taxis bleus or alpha". If you don't speak French, ask your hotel receptionist to call one for you. The hotel receptionist will try to convince you to take a taxi shuttle, she will do so because she has a commission on it but they're illegal taxis, no licence, Chinese drivers and it won't be cheaper than a taxi G7 so ask her to call a taxi G7 and don't give any explanation.
Otherwise, I'd take the bus, it's nicer and safer than the RER, there's no problem with the luggage unless you have really a lot, it will just take more time.
If you go by cab or by bus, don't take it at the rush hours, when people go to work or when they come back. Either you take it between 10:30 AM and 2:30 Pm or at night after 9:30 PM.
If you take a taxi G7, you can usually pay by Visa credit card if you don' t have cash.
